London marathon

I was delighted to finish the London marathon on Sunday, 2nd October, in a time of 4 hours, 44 minutes and 50 seconds. Nowhere near my best time, but the crowds, volunteers and other runners made it an amazing experience!!

The London marathon starts near Greenwich, runs past the Cutty Sark, over Tower Bridge, through Canary Wharf and then back along the Embankment towards Big Ben, with an iconic finish just past Buckingham Palace on the Mall. It is one of the biggest marathons in the world, with over 40,000 runners taking part this year.

I ran the marathon for Cancer Focus NI, our local cancer charity, which provides support and practical help to people in Northern Ireland who are dealing with cancer. I am extremely grateful to each and every person who sponsored me, and will be keeping the page open for donations for another couple of days – www.justgiving.com/emma-greer5.

London was the last of the 6 marathon majors for me, which started with New York in 2015 and took me around the world to Tokyo, Boston, Chicago and Berlin. I’ll now have to think about what to focus on next!!
