Run it for ‘yer man!

Our Adviser Emma Greer will be running the Belfast Marathon on 6th May 2013 in aid of Cancer Focus Northern Ireland (the new name for the Ulster Cancer Foundation) – www.cancerfocusni.org.

Emma ran the Antrim Road leg as part of a relay team for the same charity last year but has decided to go the full 26.2 miles this year!

Cancer Focus NI is the official charity for the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon 2013 and is looking for other marathon runners, wheelchair marathon participants, relay teams, fun runners and walkers to show their support and “Run it for ‘yer man”. Cancer is one of the biggest killers of men in Northern Ireland, yet research shows that they know less about the disease than women and are less likely to seek advice if they have any warning signs or symptoms.

Every year in Northern Ireland 5,794 men are diagnosed with cancer – that is 22 men every working day. Sadly, 2,000 of them die each year.

Cancer Focus NI help by funding ground-breaking research, as well as providing support for those people suffering from cancer and their families.

Emma will be posting updates of her training progress over the next few weeks and please consider a donation for this fantastic local cause – www.justgiving.com/TeamChallenge26-2.
